USCIS case data guide

How to Check Your USCIS Case Status Online

Use the official USCIS Case Status Online service and the receipt for the application you want to check. Your myUSCIS account and notices can provide additional context. CaseStatusTracker is an optional reader for data you supply, not the official status lookup.

Official sources and what they support

Our import steps, field checks and timestamp calculations describe this product. These sources do not certify our software or provide an official mapping of internal account endpoints.

Where should I check my case?

Start with Case Status Online at the official egov.uscis.gov website. Open myUSCIS directly when you need to sign in. Do not enter a USCIS password into a third-party case reader.

If you have multiple applications, confirm the form and receipt for each result. A related form’s status should not be used as a substitute for your main application’s status.

How do I check status step by step?

  1. Find the receipt associated with the application or petition.
  2. Open the official Case Status Online service in a new tab.
  3. Enter the receipt in the official tool and read the full returned message.
  4. Check your account and notices for any instructions, appointments or decisions.
  5. If you want a readable event timeline, use your own account export in the optional local reader.

What if I cannot find or access the case?

Check the receipt and which account the application is associated with. For account-linking or sign-in issues, use USCIS account support. The local JSON reader cannot recover missing receipts, link a case to an account or bypass sign-in.

EOIR court cases and Department of State visa records use different official services. A USCIS reader is not a universal immigration case lookup.

How do I add a paper-filed case to my account?

Follow the current account options and USCIS instructions for the receipt involved. USCIS explains that paper-filed cases can have different account-linking arrangements, including account notices for IOE cases.

Access codes and credentials should be entered only where USCIS instructs. Do not submit them to this reader or include them in a support message.

What can I do if the message has not changed?

Review notices before relying on the summary message alone. For a delay, consult the official processing-time inquiry tool. For a data explanation, compare supplied events and timestamps without treating them as a prediction.

What can I learn from my own case data?

Read your supplied status, supported event definitions and missing-data warnings for free. No sign-in is required for local analysis.
